The X-Men rescue him, but Magneto plans to blow them out of an airlock. Scarlet Witch saves them, and they escape in a landing pod. When they return, they find Professor X in good health. He had faked losing his powers as a final exam to see if they could manage on their own. This issue is notable for being the first to introduce Magneto's new base on Asteroid M and one of the first to feature one of the X-Men's parents, the Greys.
