The X-Men #14 (1965) marks a turning point in the series as it begins selling monthly. In this issue, Professor Xavier takes pride in his students' ability to handle themselves, so he rewards them with a vacation. However, his attention is drawn to Dr. Bolivar Trask, an Anthropologist who has created a program to protect humanity from mutants. Trask's program consists of a Servitor/Controller named "Master Mold" and a group of drones called "Sentinels." During a televised demonstration, the Sentinels turn on Trask, and Xavier telepathically summons the X-Men to help. The X-Men arrive and face off against Sentinels, but with the help of Marvel Girl, they are able to locate the Sentinels' base. This issue introduces the biggest threat to mutants, the Sentinels, and their creator, Bolivar Trask, while also revealing Angel's parents for the first time.
