In The Amazing Spider-Man #43, we see the Rhino's tranquilizer starting to wear off, and he's on a mission to escape from jail and seek out Spider-Man. Peter Parker is at Anna Watson's house, where he can't take his eyes off Mary Jane, who he's watching on TV. Mary Jane mentions that she spends most of her time taking drama lessons, and they both decide to go see the Rhino in person. However, a special news report comes on, warning citizens to stay in their homes as Rhino has broken free.
Peter is torn between wanting to stop Rhino and not wanting to leave Mary Jane, who offers to go on his motorbike. Peter thinks to himself that Mary Jane is the kind of girlfriend he needs and they set off to find Rhino. Rhino is busy breaking buildings, hoping to lure Spider-Man out. We then see a flashback to how Rhino got his powers, as he was originally just a hired crook for professional spies. After months of treatment, Rhino became one of the strongest men alive and left the spies, thinking there were other nations who would pay a fortune for what he could offer.
Back in the present, Spidey spots Rhino and sets up his camera on automatic, ready to fight. Rhino charges at him, and Spidey tries to hit him but fails. Rhino thinks that this time is going to be different since he knows how to handle Spidey, but Spidey manages to get him stuck in a barrel. However, Rhino breaks free and tries to force Spidey to attack himself. This thrilling issue showcases the never-ending battle between Spidey and his foes, leaving readers on the edge of their seats.
