In The Amazing Spider-Man #24 (1965), we find Peter Parker worrying about his struggling Aunt May. As he swings through the city as Spider-Man, he tries to take some photos to sell to the Daily Bugle, but runs into trouble with reporter Frederick Foswell. Meanwhile, jealousy gets the best of Peter when he sees an envelope addressed to Ned Leeds, causing him to blow off his colleague Betty Brant. Jameson then creates a series of asking everyday people why they hate Spider-Man, while Flash Thompson becomes increasingly jealous of Peter talking to his girlfriend Liz Allan. The story takes a dark turn as psychiatrist Dr. Ludwig Rinehart claims Spider-Man is going insane and Peter begins to hallucinate and question his sanity. Spider-Man turns to Dr. Rinehart for help, only to uncover that Rinehart is Mysterio in disguise! The story ends on a hopeful note as Peter agrees to tutor Liz and repair his relationship with Aunt May.
