In Pep #12 (1941), we're introduced to The Shield in "Death Rides the Rails." The story follows how ordinary humans are transformed into dangerous minions as a result of the helmets of Dr. Wang. Sadly, even Shield falls under mind control, and the entire nation's capitol is not safe from these enslaved citizens. Dusty comes to the rescue, but can he break the spell and save the day? Additionally, we get a glimpse of Ted Tyler's heroic journey as Fireball in "Origin of the Fireball." In his first appearance, the once-courageous firefighter is caught inside a burning building by the villainous Bug. Reborn as Fireball, he looks to settle the score. This is definitely a must-read.
