Wendell Rand, accompanied by his wife Heather, his business partner Harold Meachum, and their son Daniel (the future Iron Fist), slips over the edge of a cliff during an accident. Wendell manages to save his wife and son, but ends up falling to his death. Meachum reveals his malicious intentions by stamping on Wendell's hand, causing him to fall. Now, he is the head of Rand-Meachum Inc. He offers to rescue Heather and Danny but leaves them stranded when Heather refuses his help. After escaping a pack of wolves, Heather sacrifices herself, allowing Danny to cross the bridge to K'un-Lun. The story then moves to the present day, where Iron Fist undergoes the Challenge of the One and battles Shu-Hu. Outmatched, Iron Fist reflects on his past, channeling the power of the Iron Fist to destroy Shu-Hu, who is revealed to be a robot. Iron Fist completes the challenge and is offered the choice of immortality or death by Yu-Ti. Marvel Premiere #15 is a must-have for any comic book collector and fan of martial arts tales.
