In Green Lantern #4 (1961), Hal Jordan faces off against the diabolical missile from Qward. The evil Qwardians have created a new weapon to destroy Green Lantern and all power batteries. Fortunately, Hal's power ring starts glowing when something is wrong, and he charges the ring and comes out, but a mysterious red missile appears. Green Lantern tries to stop it, but his ring seems to be unable to affect it as though it was yellow. The missile follows Hal everywhere, but he swerves and tricks it into crashing. As he hurries back to the base, he finds Pieface in a shocked state, and he feels that radiation from the missile may be the cause. He then goes back to where the missile crashed to find out where it came from and realizes that it must have come from Qward. Hal then sets off to find a cure for Pieface's radiation sickness before it's too late. When he gets to Qward, he needs to defeat their greatest gladiator in combat to get the antidote and go free. Hal fights the robot that turns yellow, and his ring has no effect on it. However, the robot pretends to attack him while secretly giving him the antidote. Unfortunately, the Qwardians find something fishy going on and blast the robot. Hal then uses his ring to generate a tidal wave to take out the Qwardians. In Secret of Green Lantern's Mask!, Hal Jordan drops his alter ego off at a party where he plans to meet Carol Ferris. The crooks have a plan to disguise one of them as Green Lantern and plan to heist the party. Hal finds something wrong and switches to his identity as Green Lantern. He stops the crooks with ease and returns to the party as Green Lantern, where Carol hopes she'll one day see his true face.
