Green Lantern #19 (1963)

Green Lantern #19 is an early classic that has stood the test of time. This comic book tells the story of Hal Jordan's fight against the villainous Sonar, who is trying to take over Granaco, a small country next to Modora. Hal receives a letter from Casino De Granaco, the ruler of Granaco, begging for his help. Hal can't ignore a cry for help and flies off to Granaco to save the day. But that's not all! There's also a cosmo-storm heading towards earth that will affect Hal's ring in strange ways. Tomar Re, another Green Lantern, is trying to contact Hal to warn him, but the storm makes it difficult to get the message through.

When Hal arrives in Granaco, he finds Sonar already attacking the palace. Hal is able to turn the villian back and forces him to retreat back to Modora. Hal then meets with Casino who begs Green Lantern to help with defenses. But when Hal tries to use his ring to draw up a plan, it malfunctions and instead draws a picture of Sonar destroying Hal. Hal doesn't have time to look into the ring's malfunction because Sonar is attacking again, this time with an improved tuning fork gun. It looks like Hal is done for, but his ring saves him and creates a protective bubble.

Hal defeats the surprised Sonar and turns him over to the UN authorities before returning home. He also gets a message from Tomar Re, who explains that the storm has passed and that part of his message got through to Hal's ring, which is why the ring was able to create the life-saving bubble to protect Hal. Hal returns home and tells Tom everything that happened in Granaco.
