In Green Lantern #11 (1962), the story follows Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern of Sector 2814, as he stands trial before the Green Lantern Corps for conduct unbecoming a member. Despite admitting to almost committing several crimes, Jordan's exemplary record of service helps to ameliorate the charges against him, and he is let off with a stern warning. In an unexpected twist, Jordan demands sterner punishment and is exiled to the anti-matter universe of Qward, where he is drawn to the sinister citadel of Sinestro.
Sinestro reveals that he had been using a Qwardian mind control weapon to cause Jordan's aberrant behavior, up to and including his defiance of the verdict. Jordan refuses to join Sinestro at his side and lunges at him, causing Sinestro to train his power ring on him. The Green Lantern Corps, suspecting Sinestro's involvement, follows Jordan to Qward and surround Sinestro, only to discover that he has tricked them into a gas-filled room.
Jordan is given his power ring back so that he may die with honor, but he uses it to turn the chlorine gas into hydrogen chloride, burning an exit from their prison. The Green Lantern Corps arrest Sinestro, and he is hypnotized into believing he can never again escape from his imprisonment.
In another story within the comic book, Jordan loses his power ring to a young boy named Billy Taylor, who pretends to be the Green Lantern. After realizing his mistake, Jordan fights off thieves who want to kill him, and Taylor uses his will power to return the power ring to Jordan. In gratitude, Jordan awards Taylor an authentic non-functioning duplicate power ring.
Overall, Green Lantern #11 (1962) is a thrilling and action-packed comic book that showcases the bravery and intelligence of Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern of Sector 2814.
