Detective Comics #227 (1956)

Detective Comics #227, published in 1956, tells the story of Criminal Monte Fisk who had evaded the law multiple times. John Jones was put on the case and using his Martian powers, he was able to read Fisk's mind and gathers information that connects him to murder. When Jones confronts Fisk, he has no concrete evidence to arrest him. Fisk decides to take matters into his own hands and orders his henchmen to eliminate Jones. However, Jones, being in his extra-terrestrial form, remains unharmed every time. Fisk ultimately confesses, thinking that John Jones is a ghost detective. This issue is a fine example of the classic DC Comics storytelling that has stood the test of time.
