Dale Evans Comics #1 (1948)

In this classic comic book, Dale Evans Comics #1, we follow private investigator, Sierra Smith, on a thrilling case entitled "The Case of the Terrified Tenderfoot." Written by Joe Millard, penciled by Alex Toth, and inked by Frank Giacoia, this story revolves around a cache of strange green stones, a gunshot, and a smuggled uranium ore. Ames, a character in the story, seeks help from Smith after he finds himself being followed by two sinister figures. They had been pursuing him after he stumbled upon the mysterious stones. Together, Smith and Ames travel to the D. L. Dude Ranch, where they discover that the stones are, in fact, uranium ore. It turns out that the ring leader of the smuggling operation is none other than Jenny Ring, the new owner of the Dude Ranch. Smith foils Ring's plan and hands over the operation to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The case ends with Smith taking his secretary, Nan, out to dinner, but suddenly realizing he's lost his wallet, leaving Nan to pay the bill.
