In Batman #62 (1950), we see the birth of the Catwoman as we know her today. After being broken out of prison by a new crime boss named Mr. X, Catwoman agrees to work with him. However, she is spotted by Batman on her way to recon her first job. As they fight, a wall begins to collapse, and Catwoman saves Batman but is hit in the head with a brick. She wakes up in the Batcave with amnesia, but the blow from the brick restores her old memories. Horrified by what she's done, she agrees to go undercover to bring in Mr. X and atones for her past crimes. Meanwhile, in England, a new duo inspired by Batman and Robin, Knight and Squire, appear for their first time. When Batman and Robin go to England to chase after a mob boss, they team up with Knight and Squire to stop him from stealing treasure. The issue ends with Batman acknowledging that the law needs the services of Catwoman, and it may be sooner than they think.
