Amazing Fantasy #15 is a comic book that changed everything. It's the introduction of Spider-Man, one of the most beloved characters in all of comic book history. In this issue, we meet Peter Parker, a lonely high school student who gains incredible powers after being bitten by a radioactive spider during a science experiment. The powers include incredible strength, the ability to stick to walls, and heightened senses.
Peter decides to use his new powers to make some money and creates the alter ego of Spider-Man. He becomes an instant sensation but starts to become selfish and only looking out for himself and his Aunt and Uncle. However, tragedy strikes when his Uncle Ben is shot and killed during a robbery. Peter tracks down the murderer as Spider-Man but is shocked to discover that it is the same thief he allowed to escape earlier. Racked with guilt, Peter realizes that he has a new responsibility with his powers: to use them for good.
The other stories in this comic include "The Bell Ringer," where a man named Pedros stays behind on a volcanic island to ring the church bells and guide the fleeing villagers to safety. "The Man in the Mummy Case" tells the story of a criminal hiding in a museum who hears a voice coming from a mummy's sarcophagus offering help at a price. And finally, "There are Martians Among Us" is about a small community who find a crashed spaceship and realize there are aliens among them.
If you're a fan of comic book history and classic storytelling, then Amazing Fantasy #15 is a must-have for your collection.
