All-American Comics #19 (1940)

High Value: $120,000

Minimum Value: $1,400

In All-American Comics #19 (1940), writer Bill O'Connor and artist Ben Flinton introduced the world to the Atom. This non-super powered hero started small, with just a 6 page story, but quickly grew to become a fan favorite. The Atom's secret identity was Al Pratt, a college student who was bullied for his short stature and lack of physical strength. After being humiliated in front of his girlfriend by a mugger, Al decided to take matters into his own hands and sought the help of a boxing trainer to whip him into shape. He then donned a bright costume complete with a mask to become the Atom and saved his ex-girlfriend from some kidnappers. It's a heartwarming and inspiring story of a underdog who refused to let his weaknesses define him. If you're a fan of classic superhero tales, make sure to add All-American Comics #19 to your collection.
