High Value: $2,600
Minimum Value: $32

Adventure Comics #121, published in 1947, is a thrilling tale that features a multitude of heroes, including Superboy, Aquaman, Green Arrow, Speedy, and Shining Knight. One of the most interesting parts of this issue is the text story by Henery Lysing called "When Opportunity Knocks."
The main story, "The Great Hobby Contest," centers around famed cartoonist Mel Mitchum, who promises to draw the children from a hospital ward in his next issue of "Eighth Wonder Comics." Unfortunately, an explosive detonates, causing the production offices to burn to the ground. Johnny Quick, the hero of the story, is able to thwart the robbery that was happening during the explosion, but he is unable to catch the thieves, leading him to focus on rescuing Mitchum from the fire.
Mitchum, now with badly burned hands, is unable to draw the new pages for the comic. With superhuman speed, Johnny Quick sets out to learn Mitchum's drawing style and creates the entire next issue of "Eighth Wonder Comics," from penciling to inking to lettering. He even hand colors every issue and personally delivers it to every newsstand in the city. The children are elated to see themselves in the pages of their favorite comic book, but sadly, Johnny Quick is unable to procure a copy for himself as it quickly sells out.
