Action Comics #90 (1945)

Action Comics #90 (1945) sees Superman take on the notorious Amphi-Bandits, who have been causing a crime wave in Metropolis. These sneaky criminals are able to disappear every time they commit a crime, but Superman is ready for a challenge. When Metropolis' harbour police give chase, the bandits escape into a bank of black fog. Perry White, the editor-in-chief of the Daily Planet, is threatened by an old friend who wants an old mansion near the river to be preserved. Lois and Clark investigate the mansion and discover an underwater dock used by the Amphi-bandits. While investigating, Lois is kidnapped by the gang. Superman swoops in to rescue her, and the gang flees with Lois as their hostage. Superman eventually tracks down the gang in a submarine and manages to capture them, freeing Lois and the aforementioned friend. With an action-packed storyline and stunning cover art featuring Superman ripping off the lid of an enemy submarine, Action Comics #90 is a must-read for any comic book fan.
