Action Comics #89 (1945)

High Value: $5,000

Minimum Value: $60

In Action Comics #89, Superman has his work cut out for him when he tries to change the mind of a wealthy young boy who doesn't believe in him. It all starts at the Hillcrest Boys' Club, where Superman meets Brick-top Boyle, a poor boy who is being chased away. Lois and Clark take Boyle back to the club with them, where they meet Mortimer Riggs-Biddle III, a snobbish boy who doesn't believe in anything adults tell him, including the existence of Superman.

Superman decides to teach Mortimer a lesson by using his powers to create different colors, making the street outside the club appear golden yellow and the moon appear green. But things take a turn when Mortimer's father's gem collection is stolen and Clark suspects someone at the club is involved. He discovers that Slippery Andy, a notorious thief posing as the club's founder, is planning to rob Mortimer's father's bank using information from one of the club's members.

Superman foils the robbery and captures the crooks, making Mortimer a believer in Superman. This classic comic also features other stories, including "The Elephant's Homecoming," "An Ill Wind Blows," "The Curse of the Khabod Q," and "River Cruise Race Against Rogues." At Comics Into Cash, we know our comic books, and Action Comics #89 is one of the classics that truly stands the test of time.
