Action Comics #49 (1942)

In Action Comics #49, Superman faces off against a cunning criminal known as The Puzzler. This fiend uses the principles of games and puzzles to commit elaborate crimes that keep even the Man of Steel on his toes. In this issue, Lois and Clark attend a table tennis tournament, where the Puzzler has threatened one of the players. Clark saves the player from an exploding ball, but the Puzzler's thugs later attack him again. The Puzzler sends an invitation to Clark to visit him for an interview, but Lois intercepts it and is captured.
