In Action Comics #24, a wealthy industrialist named Rufus Carnahan is seeking help from none other than Superman! Rufus is worried about his son Peter who has amassed quite a bit of debt due to his gambling addiction. He asks Superman to reform his son and put him back on the right track. Later on, Rufus tragically passes away, leaving Peter to face the consequences of his actions on his own. When mobster Jake Brent demands payment of Peter's debt, things take a deadly turn. Brent is killed, and Peter is wrongfully convicted of his murder and sentenced to death. Peter is convinced he is innocent, so can Superman uncover the truth in time to save Peter from a terrible fate?
