Albedo #2 (1984)
Comic book collectors, have we got a treat for you! Albedo #2 is a rare gem in the comic book world, with only 2,000 copies ever printed. And let me tell you, these are the only copies that will ever exist. The original negatives have been lost and the original art is scattered. But fear not, true believers, for we have a scan of the cover art in our gallery.
But what's inside the book, you ask? Well, it contains the very first appearance of Usagi Yojimbo, in a story called "The Goblin of Adachigahara." This story is a must-read for any Usagi collector, as it is considered the "holy grail" for fans of the series.
In the story, Usagi is out late at night, alone, walking in the snow. He seeks shelter from an old woman and the two share a meal. Usagi learns that the woman's husband was killed in a battle that he himself had fought in. He reveals that his lord would likely have been victorious had not a traitorous general betrayed him to the enemy. Usagi warns the woman of a goblin in the area, but when it attacks, he is surprised to learn that it was her husband, the traitorous general himself.
The story is expertly crafted by Stan Sakai, with beautiful art and a compelling plot. And let's not forget the illustrated poem "The Lion and the Unicorn" by Lela Dowling and part two of "Erma Felna, EDF" by Steve Gallacci.
This comic book is a true rarity, and while it can be found from time to time, expect an extraordinary price tag. It's no wonder Albedo #2 is a must-have for any serious comic book collection. So what are you waiting for? Add it to your collection today!
